cided to venture through downtown Conway in hopes of a pleasant surprise, and we certainly found one. Vintage to Vogue is a charming little thrift store with men's and women's clothing, shoes, accessories, knickknacks, and everything else you would need to have your very own grown-up version of a dress-up session.

There is definitely something for everyone-the store is full of off-the-wall finds. My first afternoon in the store, I found a SWEET old-school flight attendant dress complete with gold buttons and trim. Not to mention, the woman who runs the store is incredibly helpful and loves to join in as you move from jumpsuits to prom dresses. She is very knowledgeable of the pieces she carries and always willing to tell you the stories behind each item that you pick up.

She had lots to tell about my little flight attendant number-stories of her experiences flying in the 70's, sexism towards women in that profession, and all sorts of fun ways I should incorporate the dress into my everyday wardrobe. While this can be amusing and really enhance your experience at Vintage to Vogue, it can become a hamper. For example, you might want to make up your own story (as Lindsay and I did) about the flashy, sequin-covered dress you were trying on only to have your dreams squashed by the real story.

Lindsay deduced that the drop-waisted purple dress with puff sleeves was worn by the 1983 Conway Prom Queen, "I'll be a queen just like her!" she exclaimed. Only to be told the dress had belonged to a friend of the owner-and she had worn it to father-daughter dance-not quite as glamorous.

Another perk? One of our very own beloved Hendrix students contributes to the store. Senior Erin Wallus makes fantastic jewelry that is carried by the store. Other local artists are also featured at Vintage to Vogue. There's plenty of handcrafted jewelry to peruse and it's all quite lovely.

Most items are reasonably priced, leaning to the cheap side, upping the fun factor even more. One could definitely leave with an eccentric outfit for their Friday evening theme party for under $15. And, perhaps if you aren't looking for something outrageous, you could simply add to your vintage t-shirt collection or pick up a snappy new (hip/vintage) handbag to show off. The point is, it's all there-ripe for the pickin'.

I certainly recommend that anyone with a penchant for dressing up visit Vintage to Vogue. An afternoon in the store promises to be one filled of fun fashion history, crazy outfits, and charming Conway personalities.
