We like humor publications. They have a long history of taking aim at institutions that honor themselves much to highly. From Punch to Thomas Nast to The Daily Show, time has shown that using humor can be an effective way of voicing opinions. Another benefit to using humor is that the majority of the time only those who are doing questionable take offense to it. Unfortunately, many people do take offense to things, then they overreact, then it's a mess. The lesson here is: don't do questionable things and have a sense of humor.

We give a big fat owl to external combustion engines. It's not often that the Profile is an advocate of mere utilitarianism but the fact of the matter is that setting a fire on the outside of your car does absolutely no good to anyone, except those with marshmallows and people without homes during the winter. In the end though, there are many better places to set a fire around campus than on your hood. For example, inside your engine is a great place to set a fire. It allows cars to move forwards or backwards, but not sideways. Not being able to drive your car sideways though is a small price to pay if it allows you to get away from your

Congratulations to the school on hiring somebody to run the Master Calendar full time. With all the different clubs and events around campus, having a person that will control all scheduling will be a great boon to students. Less overlapping of events will mean more events that students will be able to go to. This of course means that more moments or more days will have a quality distraction from homework.

The new intramural director, Jennifer Sullivan, is getting great reviews from intramural athletes. She stepped in halfway through the year after a messy situation and missing a beat she pulled off all the intramurals sports without any major problems. Perhaps she is pandering to her audience but she allows colorful verbage from the athlete. And colorful verbage is always a good way to get on the good side of intramural athletes.
