Three men celebrated for accomplishments in goodwill

Rev. Dr. Eugene L. Lowry, presented the awards and a keynote address at the dinner banquet. Lowry is also a visiting speaker as a part of Hendrix's Willson Lecture Series.
The Hendrix-Steel awards began in 1984 to celebrate the centennial anniversary of Hendrix and the United Methodist Church's partnership, and the award's name honors Marshall T. Steel, a former Hendrix College President and Methodist minister.
The Ethel K. Millar Award for Religion and Socal Awareness

Chuck Reaves was awarded the Ethel K. Millar Award for Religion and Social Awareness to commemerate his 30 years of volunteerism. Reaves has worked as a counselor for Camp Tanako in Hot Springs, Ark., among 213 other camps. Reaves's work with children has even earned him a unique name,
"The call me Chuckie, the world's oldest camper," he said, "I wouldn't trade one day of my last 31 years to be anywhere else but at Camp Tanako."
Reaves has also been an educator with the Pulaski County school system for 28 years, is an active participant in the Big Brothers/Big Sisters program, and is a dedicated member of the United Methodist Church in Geyser Springs, Ark.
Mary and Ira A. Brumley Awards for Religious Education
tDr. Charles Donaldson
Dr. Charles Donaldson received the Mary and Ira A. Brumley Award for Religious Education. After attending Philander Smith College in Little Rock, Ark., Donaldson obtained his Ed.D. from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. He is also a graduate of the prestigious Institute for Educational Management Program at Harvard University and the Millennium Leadership Institute in Washington, D.C.
Donaldson has worked at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock (UALR) since 1973 and is now the vice chancellor for educational and student services and dean of university college.
Donaldson has received the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People's (NAACP) Education Service Award and the Little Rock Community "Man of Distinction" Award for Volunteer Service. As well, the UALR student government association established the Charles W. Donaldson Administrator of the Year Award in his honor, which is given to an outstanding administrator at UALR each year. Donaldson also serves in a number of leadership positions within the Hunter United Methodist Church in Little Rock. He is married to Mable Noel Donaldson, with whom he has a daughter, Andrea Nicole Barnes.
