To the Editor:

At Ghost Roast like any Hendrix event, there was plenty of drinking (beforehand), dancing, and hooking up occurring.
But many costumes were disappointments, considering how Halloween allows people to showcase their creative talent-though the level of participations did impress me.

However, it was unfortunate that too often bodies rather than creative talents were showcased. After all, who wants to lose their dance partner or potential hook-up to another person, with a more revealing outfit?

By the way, my baby costume consisted of four Depends, a pacifier, a bottle of milk, and a rattle, leaving as much of my body uncovered as was allowed. But let's remember that I was doing this in order to make a giant fool out of myself, not to hopefully increase my chances of hooking up or show off that wonderful body of mine.

I rarely think of myself as a purist regarding anything, but Halloween is one of those things where I do think that people should think of it not as a bunch of partying people who also happen to be wearing costumes, instead, a bunch of costumed people who are also partying.

Come on, people. You have about 30 other weekends here to dress as revealingly as you like to increase your chances of having more fun after the party. Is it too much to ask to just put away that attitude for one weekend night and enjoy giving yourself a new creative persona for one of the best American holidays?
