1. People Are Strange
by The Doors

Short and poetic with the perfect union of poetry and melody, this song was the theme of the feature film The Lost Boys, a childhood favorite

2. The Wind Cries Mary
by Jimi Hendrix

Featuring original Hendrix guitar riffs, perfect example of his skill. I originally chose All Along the Watchtower, but it was written by Bob Dylan and he's already on the list.

3. London Calling
by The Clash

Intense, this song is ready for war, and it is perfectly suited for my feelings on events going on today in America coming from a band in support of revolution and the working class back in London in the late 70's/early 80's

4. Back In The Goodle Days
by John Hartford

Without peer when it comes to steamboat blues or folk for that matter, personal favorite from his album Aereo-Plain featuring the likes of Vassar Clements on violin and Randy Scruggs on bass. I chose Mr. hartford over a Mr. Cash for the folk department, and Bob Dylan down the list for those that consider Mr. Dylan's electric-based music folk.

5. Airbag
by Radiohead

Is that a cello playing with the guitar at the beginning of the song? YES! Insanely melodic soundscapes, it doesn't get much better than this. Radiohead's height of experimentation was on OK Computer, and to me this song does well to portray their skill.

6. Oh! Sweet Nothin'
by The Velvet Underground

Melancholy, reminds of an alternate life where I grew up in the slums. This song makes me feel cool, though, like I'm starring in a movie like High Fidelity, which I think has this song on the soundtrack. Actually, I'm sure of it

7. While My Guitar Gently Weeps
by The Beatles

Absolutely beautiful song, andEric Clapton makes a guest appearance. The White Album to me is the definitive collection of Beatle genius. There is no theme, only a collection of outstanding songs, and this song is one of the best.

8. The Rain Song
