Talk about an exciting finish to the Super Bowl. None of us here at The Profile happened to catch the exciting finish, but we heard about it from friends and saw clips on Sports Center. For those of you who did not watch, see Sports Center or have friends, Quarterback Tom Brady led the trailing New England Patriots on a final drive that led to a game winning field goal.
It's not like the Patriots did not have other chances to score. Countless drives earlier in the game fell short. In the end, however, with their backs to the wall they prevailed. The team just sort of put off their final act of triumph until the point when it was absolutely needed. What a finish! Unfortunately there are some people, professors, parents, area youth leaders, who have coined a dirty word for this "save the best for last" scenerio. Procrastination.
Say what you will Professor So-and-So, but I wrote your last paper three hours before it was due and you gave me a B+. I'll take diamonds in my Super Bowl Ring.
We here at The Profile are big advocates of what we like to call "strong finishes." The paper you are reading was thrown together in a panicked frenzy only hours before it was to be sent to the printer. As a matter of fact, I am writing this editorial with only a niave sense optimism that assures me we are going to finish by press time. God I hope we finish.
Consider this when it comes time for you to study for your next test: Do you really need to start cracking the books now? Take a walk. Go get some Shakey's. Watch a Soap Opera. I like to make funny faces in the mirror or prank call my parents to avoid being studious. There's plenty of time to do what you need to do. Just put it off.
The sports people analyist guys kept warning us before the big game that the Super Bowl was going to be a blowout. Instead we got an instant classic, all because one team thought they would score the points they needed to win whenever they got around to it. Procrastination, it's a beautiful thing. Now I've got a paper to finish.
